KARNATAKA HAS A LIMITED STOCK OF WATER

Karnataka Has a Limited Stock of Water

The state of Karnataka has a limited stock of water in this summer. MB Patil, Minister of Water Resources, has advised users to make limited usage of water; and there is no question of wastage! The ministry has declared that the stock of drinking water can last up to June 15. A number of meetings have been arranged to discuss how to make thoughtful and limited usage of water.

The state has been facing the crunch of drought for the last three years. The government is doing its best to minimize the pain of the citizens. But the power of the government is also limited compared to the shortage of drinking water.

Different agencies have proposed water rationing to overcome the fierce shortage of water that makes living difficult for people in every year. Only one third portion of Bengaluru have access to the water of Cauvery, following the tribunal’s order; the rest of the city is dependent on bore-wells and reservoirs.
